Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

I certainly make it no secret that my favorite food is Italian. I think everyone needs a good basic meat sauce recipe. It's easy to pull together, and super comforting. There's nothing like a big bowl of pasta, especially on a cool Fall evening. You can certainly add ground beef to your favorite jarred sauce and call it a day (which I have no problem doing on busy days!), but homemade is definitely where it's at, and it could not be easier.   Give it a try, you won't look back!

Ingredients:
1 lb. Ground Beef
1 28 oz. Can Crushed Tomatoes
1 Cup Diced Onions
2 Garlic Cloves, minced
1/4 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
1/4 Teaspoon Dried Thyme
1/4 Teaspoon Dried Oregano
1/2 Teaspoon Dried Basil
1 Teaspoon Dried Parsley
1 1/2 Teaspoons Granulated Sugar
2 Tablespoons Heavy Cream
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1 Tablespoon Butter
16 oz. Uncooked Spaghetti
Salt & Pepper, to taste
Sprinkling of parsley for garnish, if desired
Shredded Parmesan Cheese to serve with, if desired

Directions:
In a fry pan on medium high heat, brown your ground beef, seasoning with salt & pepper, until cooked through; drain any excess fat and remove beef to a bowl and set aside. In the same fry pan with the heat turned down to medium, add your butter and olive oil and once the butter has melted add in your onions and garlic. Saute until the onions start to turn very light golden brown. (make sure your pan isn't too hot so you don't burn your garlic) Turn the heat down and add in your crushed tomatoes, seasonings, parmesan and heavy cream and salt & pepper. Mix well and add back in your ground beef and stir it into the sauce. Cover and turn heat to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes. While your sauce is simmering you will have plenty of time to boil your pasta water and cook your pasta so by the time the sauce is done, your pasta will be ready and you can throw the whole meal together. Once your pasta is done and after you drain it, return it to the pot that you cooked it in and pour your sauce over it and mix it all together and it's ready to serve. Bake up some store bought or homemade cheesy garlic bread to round the meal out. Enjoy!
