Creamy Skillet Spaghetti

Hi there! I hope your week is starting out good! I totally had plans to get this up last night, but the Oscar's sort of got in my way, oops! I'm here posting it now though and I'm so excited about it - we LOVED this meal. It will definitely be something I make time and time again. It also could not be easier, thanks in part to it completely being a 1-dish meal..EVERYTHING cooks in the skillet, how easy is that? I served this with a side caesar salad and homemade garlic bread - it was a perfect meal! I can't wait for you guys to try this one!

Ingredients:
1/2 Pound Ground Beef
1/2 Pound Ground Italian Sausage
8 Ounces Thin Spaghetti
2 Cups Water
1 28 Ounce Can Crushed Tomatoes
3/4 Cup Onion, finely diced
3 Garlic Cloves, minced
8 Ounces Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese, freshly grated
1/2 Cup Heavy Cream
1 Tablespoon Butter
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1/4 Teaspoon Granulated Sugar
1 Teaspoon Dried Parsley
1/2 Teaspoon Dried Basil
1/4 Teaspoon Dried Oregano
1 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper

Directions:
In a large cast iron skillet or oven safe pan (make sure it has a lid that fits it) add your butter and olive oil. Once the butter melts into the oil, add your onions, salt & pepper and cook about 3 minutes.

Add your beef, sausage and garlic and break the meat up and cook until it is all cooked through. (if you want to drain the excess fat do so now, I didn't find it necessary)

Pour in your can of crushed tomatoes and the sugar, parsley, basil and oregano. Mix it all up with the meat and then pour in your water and mix. Take your spaghetti and break it in half and add it to the pan, pushing it down under the sauce so it cooks evenly. Cover and bring to a slight boil, taking the lid off every couple of minutes or so to stir the spaghetti around to make sure it doesn't stick together.

Once the spaghetti is cooked, add your parmesan and heavy cream and give it a good mix. Top the dish with your shredded mozzarella and place in the oven under the boiler until the cheese is melted and starts to brown.
